Science

In Science we have been discussing how living things change and grow. Last week we looked at the changes that occur in humans, identifying the physical, cognitive and motor changes from birth to an adult. We sure do change a lot!

This week we are focusing on the life cycle of a butterfly. Today we made a spinning wheel to help us remember the important facts. We will be using these to help us write an explanation next week. Not sure what an explanation is? Ask us! . . . We're becoming expert explanation writers.

There are a few videos added in the 'Resources' page about the life cycle of a butterfly. Be sure to check them out :-)

Excursion to Canberra Theatre

We are so looking forward to our excursion to the Canberra Theatre on the 10th of June! The show 'Hippo! Hippo!' is based off the book 'There's a hippopotamus on our roof eating cake' by Hazel Edwards and will no doubt be a fantastic musical experience.

Don't forget to bring your note in by Friday 3rd of June to ensure you can come along.

Technology

Today saw hive of activity in our classroom! We had the challenge of making a house, using just craft materials, for one of the three little pigs. Our two big goals were to make it strong and attractive. After planning our houses this morning, we carefully (and enthusiastically!) constructed our design this afternoon. We each encountered some challenges and had to modify our plan along the way but we persisted and produced some fabulous final products.

Science & Technology

Today in Technology we were using everything we have learnt in Science this year to create our very own wind chimes! We had to think carefully about the materials we used and which ones would withstand the outdoor weather. We worked collaboratively with 2RNS and practiced persisting when we encountered challenges during our design and make stage. It was a lot of fun. Check out our creations...
